Think-Top Educational Institute ("we", "us") runs this website, the free SEA practice activities, our classes, the Reading Clinic and our diagnostic assessments. This page explains what information we collect, why, who sees it, and the choices you have. We write it for parents, because children's information is involved.
What we collect
- Enquiries, bookings and forms. Names, phone numbers, email addresses, your child's name, age and Standard, and anything you choose to tell us about your child's learning.
- Assessments and reports. Diagnostic answers, scores, observations and the written report for your child.
- Class records. Attendance, work completed, progress notes and fee records.
- Mailing list. A parent's email address, given when the parent ticks the box and submits the mailing-list form.
- Practice activities. Your child's stars, badges and exercise results are saved on your child's own phone or tablet, in the browser. They are not sent to us. If you join the leaderboard or a paid plan (when available), the extra information is described in the section "Leaderboard and subscriptions" below. When an activity is finished, the practice app also adds one to a daily total kept by subject, Standard and topic, so we can see which topics families use most. These totals carry no name, email address, device identifier or IP address, and they cannot be traced back to your child.
Why we collect it
- To book, deliver and follow up on assessments, classes and sessions.
- To prepare your child's report and recommendations.
- To send fee reminders and receipts, and to keep our business records.
- To send the news and tips you asked for, if you joined the mailing list.
- To keep our website and activities working and to fix mistakes.
Who sees it
Only Think-Top Educational Institute staff who need it to teach or run the service. We do not sell your information. Reports about your child go to the parent or guardian. We share a report with a school or another professional only when a parent asks us to or agrees to it.
We use trusted tools to run the service, such as our website host (Netlify), online payment (WiPay), scheduling, email and spreadsheets (Google), and messaging (WhatsApp). These providers handle information on our behalf and under their own privacy terms. Fonts for our pages are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google when a page loads.
Children's information
We ask parents and guardians to give us information about their children, and we treat it with extra care. Children should not send us personal information through the website. The practice activities do not ask for a child's name or email address.
Leaderboard and subscriptions
If the anonymous leaderboard is available, a parent must agree first. Children choose an animal picture and receive a generated nickname such as "Brave Toucan". We do not ask for real names, emails or chat messages. We store the nickname, picture, class code and weekly star totals so the board can work. A parent can ask us to remove a child at any time. If a paid plan is available, we store the parent's email address and subscription status. Card details are handled by our payment provider and are never stored by us.
How long we keep it
We keep records for as long as your child is with us and for a reasonable period afterwards for business and fee records. After that we delete or anonymise them. Mailing-list emails are kept until you unsubscribe.
Keeping it safe
We use password-protected accounts and reputable providers, and we only share what is needed. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send us anything you do not want us to hold.
Your choices
- Ask what information we hold about you or your child.
- Ask us to correct it, or to delete it.
- Unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time using the link in our emails, or by telling us.
- Clear your child's activity progress by clearing the browser's site data.
